Apple Pie

There's nothing quite like a warm, homemade apple pie. With its buttery, flaky crust and sweet, cinnamon-spiced apple filling, this classic dessert is a favorite for holidays, family gatherings, or just a cozy weekend treat.

Pie Crust Recipe
Ingredients :

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour

  • ½ tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 sticks cold butter

  • 7-8 tbsp cold water

Instructions to make the crust :

  • In a food processor, mix the flour and sugar.

  • Add cold, diced butter and pulse until a sandy texture remains.

  • Slowly add in the water one tablespoon at a time or until moist clumps form.

  • Transfer dough to a clean work surface and split into two disks (one for crust, one for top)

  • Refrigerate 1 hour before using.

  • For the wash:

  • 1 tsp water

  • 1 egg yolk

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 7 cups thin Granny Smith apple slices (6-7 apples)

  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup water

  • 1 cup sugar

Recipe :

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter on medium heat.

  • Whisk in the flour until no clumps are left

  • Whisk in the water and sugar and let the mixture come to a boil, whisking frequently.

  • Remove from heat and start to peel, remove core, and slice your apples.

  • Place apple slices in a bowl and toss with cinnamon and brown sugar. Pour the sauce over the apples and stir until combined.

  • Transfer your pie dough into your pie plate and add apple mixture. Finish top of the pie.

  • Beat the egg yolk and water together for the egg wash and brush over the pie crust.

  • Place the pie in the oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

  • After fifteen minutes, reduce the heat to 350 degrees without opening the oven and bake for another 45 minutes or until golden brown.
