
Apple Pie
There's nothing quite like a warm, homemade apple pie. With its buttery, flaky crust and sweet, cinnamon-spiced apple filling, this classic dessert is a favorite for holidays, family gatherings, or just a cozy weekend treat.
Pie Crust Recipe
Ingredients :

2 ½ cups all purpose flour

½ tbsp granulated sugar

2 sticks cold butter
-
7-8 tbsp cold water
Instructions to make the crust :

In a food processor, mix the flour and sugar.

Add cold, diced butter and pulse until a sandy texture remains.

Slowly add in the water one tablespoon at a time or until moist clumps form.

Transfer dough to a clean work surface and split into two disks (one for crust, one for top)

Refrigerate 1 hour before using.

For the wash:
-
1 tsp water
-
1 egg yolk
Ingredients for the filling:

7 cups thin Granny Smith apple slices (6-7 apples)

1 ½ tsp cinnamon
-
1 tsp brown sugar
-
8 tbsp unsalted butter
-
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
-
¼ cup water
-
1 cup sugar
Recipe :

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

In a small saucepan, melt butter on medium heat.

Whisk in the flour until no clumps are left
-
Whisk in the water and sugar and let the mixture come to a boil, whisking frequently.

Remove from heat and start to peel, remove core, and slice your apples.

Place apple slices in a bowl and toss with cinnamon and brown sugar. Pour the sauce over the apples and stir until combined.

Transfer your pie dough into your pie plate and add apple mixture. Finish top of the pie.

Beat the egg yolk and water together for the egg wash and brush over the pie crust.

Place the pie in the oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

After fifteen minutes, reduce the heat to 350 degrees without opening the oven and bake for another 45 minutes or until golden brown.
